THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA HAS BECOME A PROPAGANDA MACHINE: How do we discover the Truth?

We are the most conditioned, programmed beings the world has ever known. Not only are our thoughts and attitudes continually being shaped and molded, our very awareness of the whole design has been erased. Few question anything.

The establishment creates and uses words and phrases to control our thoughts and actions. It’s a subtle system of psychological warfare and programming that creates conformity.

Governments insist on conformity because governments want to control the people. Where there is conformity, there is control.

Edward L. Bernays, the nephew of Sigmund Freud, knew a thing or two about mass persuasion. He is the father of manipulative propaganda in America. In his book “Propaganda,” Bernays writes:

Those who manipulate the unseen mechanism of society constitute an invisible government which is the true ruling power of our country. We are governed, our minds molded, our tastes formed, our ideas suggested largely by men we have never heard of.

In almost every act of our lives, whether in the sphere of politics or business or in our social conduct or our ethical thinking, we are dominated by the relatively small number of persons who understand the mental processes and social patterns of the masses. It is they who pull the wires that control the public mind.

So the words and phrases the establishment creates and uses against us can rightly be called control words or control phrases. My term for them is code words, and I have listed some of them here and here.

The system today is fine-tuned, and it has great predictive value. The system that programs the public mind knows what the public thinks and can predict and measure any response to any probe.

We are the most conditioned, programmed beings the world has ever known. Not only are our thoughts and attitudes continually being shaped and molded, our very awareness of the whole design has been erased. Few question anything.

One of the great deceptions of our time is the idea that there is or has ever been objectivity in journalism. Oh, sure, there are some naïve, young journalists who enter the field aiming to remain neutral and objective in all aspects. But those altruist motives are quickly co-opted, often without the journalist even realizing it, by the propaganda from the sources covered, by management, by funders (advertisers), by conventional wisdom and by the herd mentality. The herd mentality is insidious. Few in the MSM dare inquire outside accepted orthodoxy. It can be their professional death knell (see Sharyl Attkisson and Helen Thomas).

Objective media is code word for agenda.

There has never been an objective media in the U.S., and it’s doubtful there has ever been one in the history of the world. During the Revolutionary War, there were newspapers supporting and newspapers opposing the revolution that printed either “facts” or “propaganda” depending upon which side the reader supported.

Today, all national mainstream media are controlled by six mega-corporations. Almost all major television media currently have strong ties to the Obama administration, the Democrat Party and Republican Party establishments, government agencies and NGOs (nongovernmental organizations) like the Council on Foreign Relations.

Talking head experts and sources the media provide are typically affiliated with various think tanks funded by cronies, foundations, large corporations and NGOs. This is particularly true of those promoting war. The media rarely, if ever, reveal these ties.

Other “objective” journalists, thousands of them who establish the parameters of thought for the day, participate in a secretive and closed Google group called Gamechanger Salon in which they collaborate online to exchange information, ideas and strategy to promote statism through the articles, ideas, policies and candidates they will promote or denigrate in a news cycle. It is no coincidence that certain, specific memes rise and are then parroted across the spectrum.

Journalists no longer even deny it.

Brent Cunningham, the managing editor of Columbia Journalism Review, argues that objectivity excuses lazy reporting. Objectivity makes us passive recipients of news, rather than aggressive analyzers and explainers of it. If a journalist is on a deadline and all he or she has is “both sides of the story”, that is often good enough, failing to push the story, incrementally, toward a deeper understanding of what is true and what is false. According to Cunningham, the nut of the tortured relationship with “objectivity” lies within a number of conflicting diktats that the press operated under; be neutral yet investigative; be disengaged but have an impact; be fair-minded but have an edge. Objectivity is not possible because we all have our biases, including journalists. No individual embodies all perspectives of a society. In 1996 the Society of Professional Journalists acknowledged this dilemma and dropped “objectivity” from its ethics code. — Wikipedia

And so “objective” publications like The New York Times can justify running cover for President Barack Obama, as when it pulled, without serious explanation, a comment from Obama that was potentially embarrassing for the undocumented usurper.

The “objective” media lost its collective minds in mid-December when the Las Vegas Review-Journal was secretly purchased by Sheldon Adelson, the billionaire casino magnate who props up Zionist Republican GOP candidates (last presidential cycle it was Newt Gingrich). Adelson declared he would not interfere with the newsroom, but his promise rings hollow, given his history in the media business.

The Journal extensively covers the Las Vegas casino industry. Just prior to the sale, the newspaper’s corporate management instructed three Journal reporters to drop everything and monitor all activities of three Clark County, Nevada, judges. One of them just happened to have a case before her involving Adelson’s companies.

The MSM — who openly promote leftist causes and candidates and have run cover for Obama, Bill and Hillary Clinton, and other progressives — have expressed fear that Adelson will use The Journal to promote GOP candidates and causes similar to the way he promoted the Zionist religious right in Israel through the newspaper he owns there.

The hypocrisy behind their fear is obviously lost on a set of people who create code words in order to advance their agenda: code words like “climate denier” for those doubting anthropomorphic global warming, and “too big to fail” for crony banks. They call the Bundys and their collaborators (who have harmed or threatened no one) in Oregon “terrorists” and advocate for their annihilation while giving a pass to the Black Lives Matter crowd, who not only have shut down commerce and traffic with their protests, but have called for the murder of police officers, Donald Trump and white people in general.

America and Americans are saturated with propaganda about everything. You can’t find the truth in the media and political system with a search warrant. Is the big lie serious? Yes, indeed. Propaganda alters brain chemistry, controls parameters of thought and triggers controlled response mechanisms.

The truth can only be found in alternative media and by carefully dissecting what the MSM occasionally reveals. You will rarely find the truth in conventional wisdom, and you will never find it if you don’t question everything and follow the money.
