Why the ‘Racist America’ Meme is Collapsing

The American Left fears that it might be losing control of their minority auxiliaries, without whom their narrative falls apart, and with its collapse goes their cultural hegemony. The media and the elites embedded in and aligned with it constitute the opposition party. The product of their agenda is an America divided along racial, ethnic, and cultural subnational lines—all in conflict against the very principles of the U.S.A., elevating “group rights” above individual rights on the pretense of anti-racism.

President Trump lashed out at undocumented immigrants [sic] during a White House meeting, calling those trying to breach the country’s borders ‘animals,’” tweeted the New York Times. The echo chamber picked up the line and VICE News reported that the president did indeed compare “undocumented immigrants”—the media’s euphemism of choice for illegal aliens—to animals.

As the Times story picked up steam, a video featuring a lawyer named Aaron Schlossberg screaming at employees for not speaking English went viral. Flash to the South, a congressional candidate slaps the hood of a gunmetal gray school bus and declares he’s going to round up all the criminal illegals. Marco Esparza, a host on La Raza, screams, “Disgusting and racist!” at the sight, calling for racial solidarity among Latinos to “DEMAND respect” from gringos.

But before you could question the irony of Esparza’s demands, a blonde-haired, blue-eyed white girl named Kaitlin graduated with a rifle slung across her back at Kent State in Ohio. This is the same state, NowThis reminds us, where Tamir Rice and John Crawford were shot dead by police in tragic mishaps.

These stories ran virtually back-to-back across mainstream media, propagandized as the structural byproducts of systemic white supremacy and white privilege.

The controversy over Trump’s “animal” remark was, as we now know, fake news. The Times didn’t mention until later that his comments were directed at criminal aliens, like those in MS-13. But because we live in an era in which Trump can never, ever be right, the Left is now defending MS-13 and other criminals without comment from our media watchdogs.

Incredibly, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) has defended MS-13 as “God’s children” with whom we all share an inviolable “spark of divinity.” What would the family of an unnamed man who was stabbed 100 times, dismembered, beheaded, and had his heart cut out say to that? The killer was 19-year-old Miguel Angel Lopez-Abrego, a citizen of El Salvador, illegally residing in the United States.

What Makes National News? The Answer May Surprise You!
Kaitlin’s nod to the Second Amendment dominated the entirety of American mainstream media, albeit with very little coverage of the death threats she received. Even the BBC picked up the story, calling the act “inflammatory” and likening Kaitlin to the members of a “far right militia.” Again, with no with mention of the vitriol that came her way.

“I hope a terrorist comes along and blows your AR-10 away you little bitch,” read one message. Another said, “I hope you and your white family get shot someday . . .” Kaitlin told reporters that much of the hate she received was racially motivated. “White privilege in itself means you can never be a victim of racism you dumb bitch. Reverse racism doesn’t exist you dumb white bitch,” said yet another, entirely devoid of irony or self-awareness. Celebrities joined the pile-on too, with Jim Carrey implying Kaitlin was to blame for the recent Santa Fe shooting. The devil will “real soon . . . have [Kaitlin] for dinner,” wrote Carrey.

But another story, bizarrely confined to local news, broke right before Kaitlin’s stunt. Rev. Jerrod Moultrie, president of the Timmonsville, South Carolina chapter of the NAACP, falsely accused police of racism. If not for their body cameras, that lie could have cost two officers their jobs. The story received conspicuously less national coverage, and the BBC certainly did not find it worthy of notice. Why does a small town white girl in her 20s merit more coverage than the lying president of a preeminent civil rights organization?

Local NAACP officer Henry Dixon responded to questions about Moultrie’s deceit by claiming, “We just don’t believe he would have told a lie about something of that magnitude. We’re not saying a person is incapable of lying. Just from his character, we don’t think he would have lied about something like that.” The Left casts Kaitlin’s act as a subliminal demonstration of white supremacy and white privilege, while giving the benefit of the doubt to the president of a historically corrupt institution that belies its progressive intonations. What kind of privilege is that?

Obvious Racism—With a Twist
The story of a black pastor in Alabama who erected a sign declaring “Black Folks Need to Stay Out of White Churches” was also relegated to local news. In an interview, Rev. Michael R. Jordan, the pastor of New Era Baptist Church in Birmingham’s West End, claimed that the proposed Church of the Highlands is “a slavemaster church.”

“I call it plantation religion, slavemaster religion,” he said. “The white rich folks start a church and put a black pastor in charge of it.” Highlands is open to everyone, of course, and its pastor will be former Auburn University football player Mayo Sowell. At the most fundamental level, Jordan is angry about white influence in what he sees as a strictly black community. When whites acted on the basis of racial identity against nonwhite influence, it was called Jim Crow. The Birmingham News reports that Jordan is no stranger to controversy:

Jordan has made headlines before with his church sign. In 2004 he posted a message on the church’s sign that said, “AIDS is God’s curse on a homosexual life.” He’s had several other controversial signs, including the message “God’s Word forbids two men getting married.” He also weighed in on the Trayvon Martin case, saying the jury that acquitted George Zimmerman was racist, and on drug sales, with a sign that said, “Warning: Crack cocaine sold on this street.”

Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin posted on Facebook in response to Jordan’s sign that “[t]here is a spirit that is over this city that has to be brought down. A spirit of racism and division. We have to change the conversation to what we need it to evolve into.” A black mayor regards the comments of a black pastor as racist and divisive, yet that somehow isn’t worth of more than a local news story.

All of this is happening around the same time that the truth about illegal immigration and crime is at last going mainstream, resulting in “group rights” operatives pushing back with claims that calling 911 is racist, by propagandizing mishaps as proof of “systemic” bigotry, and claiming “police body cameras can threaten civil rights of black and brown people.” Why? Body camera “footage review can unduly inflate officer credibility.” That is to say, body camera footage has been overly effective in debunking the Black Lives Matter narrative—such as Moultrie’s whole-cloth lie about his traffic stop in South Carolina—and that’s just unfair

The Media Narrative is Cracking
On May 5, one day after Don Lemon claimed that it is his “obligation as a journalist” to call the president racist, a violent “flash mob” of mostly black teenagers broke out in Chicago’s Magnificent Mile.

Groups of teenagers took to the streets and randomly attacked pedestrians. Responding officers were “vastly outnumbered.” Dozens of teens beat up a man walking with his girlfriend, sending him to an intensive care unit. One teen is facing a felony count of aggravated battery to an officer.

The event was virtually identical to an incident from 2013, where, again, hundreds of mostly black teenagers took to streets and caused mayhem in Mag Mile. Alderman Brian Hopkins wrote in an email to constituents following the recent incident: “The 18th District patrol officers responded immediately and appropriately, but unfortunately, they had no advance warning that such a large group of youth was assembling, and therefore the police were vastly outnumbered. Some time passed before reinforcements could arrive and re-gain control of the streets.”

Why would the story of a violent flash mob wreaking havoc in Chicago receive virtually no national coverage? One can imagine how differently this would have gone, had the teens simply been white.

There is a very specific narrative being crafted by mass media and for good reason.

Newsflash: Blacks and Immigrants Don’t All Think Alike
Since Kanye West dared to speak his mind, inchoate and awkward as it was, support among black men for the president hasreportedly doubled. Much to the chagrin of leftists everywhere, at the National Rifle Association’s Annual Meeting in Dallas, Texas, Diamond and Silk praised Kanye and called for more blacks “to come off that Democratic plantation.”

Following West’s comments, Chance the Rapper stated that he has a “personal issue with the fact that Chicago has had generations of democratic officials with no investment or regard for black schools, neighborhoods, or black lives.” West’s dissidence, taken in conjunction with rising black stars like Candace Owens, threatens to unshackle the hearts and minds of blacks from the Left’s narrative.

Meanwhile, 58.5 percent of Latino voters declared that they “support Donald Trump’s immigration policies,” even though they don’t like him as a person, while slightly less than half desire illegal aliens “to become legal and remain in the country.”

“We were not offered an easier, softer way, OK? We were told ‘You have to be an American citizen, and here’s what you have to do.’ And we did it,” said a legal immigrant in fiery opposition to sanctuary laws and DACA alike.

What does the media have to say about all this? More of the same. They must portray America as a nation in which minorities are perpetually victimized and incapable of being aggressors, while marginalizing dissident voices. This narrative is convenient not only to the Left but for establishment Republicans as well.

The Left fears that it might be losing control of their minority auxiliaries, without whom their narrative falls apart, and with its collapse goes their cultural hegemony. On the other hand, an excuse to go flaccid for meaningful immigration reform, on the pretense of “anti-racism,” means that Faustian Republicans won’t have to break with their benefactors, whose substantial financial contributions, as Paul Gottfried has observed, come at the cost of “expanded immigration in order to provide cheap labor for GOP donors.” This, coupled with the fact that establishment Republicans are historically spineless, makes any excuse to avoid fighting for meaningful change a godsend for the GOP.

The media and the elites embedded in and aligned with it constitute the opposition party. The product of their agenda is an America divided along racial, ethnic, and cultural subnational lines—all in conflict against the very principles of this nation, elevating “group rights” above individual rights on the pretense of anti-racism.

For as long as we let Democrats carry out its business of polarizing the nation—a crime it has yet to be held accountable for—America will continue to be, as Arthur Schlesinger, Jr. warned, a cult of squabbling nationalities, “against the original theory of America as ‘one people,’ a common culture, a single nation.”
